My Review:

This is the first book in Lynette Eason's new series Extreme Measures.

This book is set in the mountains of North Carolina and centers around Penny Carlton and FBI Special Agent Holton Satterfield.  Penny is a paramedic and rescue pilot for Lifeflight.  Penny is also the daughter of movie star Geneva Queen.  Penny's character is quiet interesting.  As a young girl she experience a trauma that has shaped the young woman she has become.  First she's very smart, caring, compassionate, well respected, speaks her mind, but also keeps her personal life very private.  She doesn't try to hide it, but she also doesn't advertise it.  In the last 5 years Holt has went from one crisis to another it seems. First his partener was murdered during an attempted rescue attempt during a kidnapping, his sister was arrested and confessed to killing her husband, then while trying to bring in a serial killer was critically injured.  Holt is a great guy, but also a well respected agent.  Everyone likes him, including Penny.

One stormy afternoon Penny gets a call out for a young injured girl who needed immediate transfer.  Weighing her options and looking at the storm she agreed to take off, hoping if all went well she would  just beat the storm.  Of course nothing goes as planned and suddenly Penny finds herself flying in the worse storm she ever flown in. Holt finds out his serial killer on death row has escaped and thinks he has headed for Mount Mitchell where he could hideout.

This book is full blown edge of your seat suspense from the first page.    The plot is both intriguing and realistic.  The characters are fully developed showing both their strengths and flaws.  The author has a talent for pulling the reader into the story and holding them until the last page is turned.  This book was no different.  I couldn't put it down until I finished it. This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone who loves a great suspense.

*I received this book from the author via the publisher.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Thoughts:

I loved it!!!!
This is the third installment in the Blue Justice series, but it's definitely a stand alone story.  This book is action packed, fast paced and pulled me in from the first page and kept me turning the pages until I finished it at 3 am.  I considered this a one sitting read, because I just couldn't put it down.  This story contains elements of mystery, edge of your seat suspense, romantic tension, faith and love.
I believe this is my favorite of the series.
I immediately fell in love with Brady St. John.  After a bad break up he threw himself into his work to try to forget some bad decisions and a broken heart. I think he was more embarrassed about the bad decisions than the broken heart though.  He doesn't question his ability to do his job, but does question himself when it comes to women.  His sister convinces him to take a much needed vacation to get his straight and his heart right with God.  Very good advice which  he takes and lands him in a rental on Lake Henley with his dive suit, fishing poles and his bible.
Emily Chastain finds herself in a strange predicament, tied to a boat with a gun pointed at her head.  For the life of her she can't figure out who this man is or what she's done to make him so mad as to want to kill her. With the sudden intervention of a stranger Emily finds herself free from one stranger, but suddenly unsure of who she can or should trust.  Emily works at a bank as a financial crimes investigator and to look at her you would think she has a life of ease.  Well, it's anything but that.  She grew up in an abusive household, ended up homeless and living on the streets.  I love that her strength of character comes from her faith in God.
Emily and Brady suddenly find themselves in a run for their lives while trying to figure out exactly who wants Emily dead and why. Brady has help from members of his family, but he takes a personal interest in not only keeping Emily safe, but also bringing those to justice who have hurt her.
This is a book I would recommend to anyone who likes suspense or mystery.

My Review:

Lynette Eason has written another hit.
I loved this story!!
We are introduced to the family this series will center around, the St. Johns.  This book centers around Izzy, who is currently an officer for the city of Columbia, South Carolina.  She comes from a family that is involved with law enforcement in some sort of way.  Her mother just happens to be the police commissioner and her father is an attorney.  Izzy seems like a woman who seems very relaxed, yet confident in both her professional and personal life.  The loss of her partner hits her very hard, not only did she work with Kevin, but she had also grown up with him.
This is a fast paced, edge of your seat story.  When I opened this book to the first page I was hit by how close Izzy seems with her family and that pulled me in.  She is a character I could see as a friend I could have coffee with or confide a secret to.  Yet, when her partner dies suddenly she morphs into a person on a mission to find answers and tucks all her pain away until she has those answers.  Unfortunately to find those answers she must face some hard truths which has the potential to break her heart.  Suddenly Izzy finds things more complicated than she ever imagined as twists and turns takes her into a plot much larger than just Kevin's murder.
This story has elements of intrigue, suspense, faith, trust, and love.
This is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves a suspense.  I will tell you for me this was a one sitting read.  I just couldn't put it down until the last page was turned.

Elite Guardians

Three, young women involved in different forms of law enforcement meet each other in Athens, Greece while attending bodyguard school. After graduation they formed their own company, Elite Guardians, and as the business grew other agents have been hired.  The Elite Guardians is a group of strong women who put their lives in danger to protect others.  Their clientele ranges from someone famous, like a musical star or politician, to just someone feeling they need protection, but also they are contracted through the mayor of Greenville, South Carolina to assist the police when needed.  As a result of this they carry law enforcement powers where they can investigate or arrest should the need arise.

My Thoughts:

I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspense.
From the very first page I was pulled into this thrilling adventure as the characters are literally running for their lives.
Maddy McKay is a strong character, but her one weakness appears to be Quinn Holcombe. She has deep feelings for him despite his grumpy attitude.  Maddy is a former FBI agent, but left years ago under a black cloud that caused a division from her and her family.  She hides her turmoil over this situation, but secretly wants it resolved.  Quinn is a character with a tough exterior, yet has a softer side.  Quinn is on the police force and is stumped with the latest case of 8 missing people that they've been unable to find dead or alive. He's in hopes Maddy will help him investigate. As the plot explodes with twists and turns Maddy and Quinn are faced with pulling out everything life has taught them just to survive.  Maddy and Quinn are complex characters that I couldn't help but love.
This is a spine tingling plot that will took me from South Carolina to Key West.  The imagery brings to life both the setting and the characters. The Chosen one is a deep and darkly twisted character that plots a revenge no one sees coming.
This is the third book in the Elite Guardians series, but it's a stand alone story. I will add that this is an addicting series.  This story is one that pulled me in immediately and kept me turning the pages until the end.
