Summer Harbor Series

Get ready for the rugged coastlines and quiet communities of Down East Maine in Denise’s upcoming Summer Harbor Series! Meet the Callahan brothers, the town’s most eligible bachelors, and come along on their exciting journey toward true love.

Eden Martelli is too busy fleeing the clutches of danger to realize she’s running straight into the arms of new love.

Speeding north through rural Maine, Eden Martelli wonders how it ever came to this—on the run, with her mute five-year-old son dozing fitfully in the passenger seat. But when a breakdown leaves them stranded in Summer Harbor, Eden has no choice but to stay put through Christmas . . . even though they have no place to lay their heads.

Beau Callahan is a habitual problem-solver—for other people anyway. He left the sheriff’s department to take over the family Christmas tree farm, but he’s still haunted by the loss of his parents and struggling to handle his first Christmas season alone.

When Eden shows up looking for work just as Beau’s feisty aunt gets out of the hospital, Beau thinks he’s finally caught a break. Eden is competent and dedicated—if a little guarded—and a knockout to boot. But, as he soon finds out, she also comes with a boatload of secrets.

Eden’s been through too much to trust her heart to another man, but Beau is impossible to resist, and the feeling seems to be mutual. As Christmas Eve approaches Eden’s past catches up to her.

Beau will go to the ends of the earth to keep her safe. But who’s going to protect his heart from a woman who can’t seem to trust again?

5 Stars

I have been a fan of Denise Hunter's writing for years.
In fact last year she wrote my favorite book in 2014, Dancing With Fireflies which is part of her Chapel Springs series. When she announced the new series I anxiously waited for the new release, but I must admit I wasn't in any way prepared for the heart grabbing story.  this beautiful romance is interwoven with mystery and suspense. In this intriguing story characters find things more complicated than they ever imagined.
This story introduces us very complex characters with very real problems.  It also broaches some very tough issues.  Yet It also brings a message that anyone can relate to.
The author's ability to weave words together really bring the story to life. From page one I was pulled in and kept captivated until the last page.
Eden's past surprised me on many levels, but all I could feel for her was empathy.  She has a terrifying past that only a strong woman could endure. She is a good mother with only one thought in mind to protect her son and keep him safe.
Beau is a wonderful leading man in this story and I fell a little in love with him.  Of course behind the scene he is just a young man trying to navigate through grief at the loss of his parents.  He recognizes Eden and her son in need of help, but has no idea the amount of baggage from the past they need help with. As important factors are brought to the surface Beau realizes that Eden needs his protection more than anything.
This story reminded me that we are to always  lean on God and pray for his guidance.  We may not know what trials lay in front of us, but we need to remember to trust that he will see us through.
This is a wonderful book that I would recommend to anyone.
I did receive this book electronically through Netgalley for a honest opinion without bias or outside influence.
