Let me introduce you to the characters:
Hayden McCarthy is from a small town in Nebraska. She is currently living with her roommate Emilie Wesley whom she attended law school with. She is an attorney at Elliot & Johnson and words under partner Gerard Campbell.
Hayden's roommate and friend. Awarded the most Creative Argument in law school which works great since she currently works as a freelance writer for one of the Beltway's online investigate online sites. She also works with domestic violence clients at a local shelter. She is a cousin to Andrew Wesley.
Andrew Wesley is the son on Congressman Scott Wesley who is now making a run for a vacant senate position. Andrew spent a total of one semester in law school before he dropped out. He felt if he finished he would never become his own man. Yet he has a secret he doesn't want made public.

I love legal thrillers and this one ranks up there with the best of them.
The cover gives the reader a hint at the journey Hayden is about to start. She is given a case from her boss that could be ripped from the headlines. I can't think of a news outlet or social media site where someone won't be addressing immigration. Regardless of your opinion it's a hot topic of discussion. Hayden's case is basically that a immigrant crossed our borders without correct documentation, was detained and later died at the facility where he was detained. Now the first question for her is, was the US responsible to provide for his safety during this time? Morally is a different question all together. I really liked how when Hayden started her investigation into the case she looks are every possible loop hole and angle. She is a determined young woman and has great morals and intuition. She has a tough exterior that covers up her soft heart.
Andrew is a "golden" boy so to speak. He comes from a very political family, but has little use for politics. He feels he's been used as a pawn most of his life in the political arena. He currently works with legal immigrants to acclimate to living in the US. He has a good heart and generally wants to help people. He loves his family and is very loyal. He has dreams like everyone else of one day having a family, but finding the right girl just hasn't happened yet.
The plot is engaging and offers some spine tingling moments with the twists and turns. It's full of suspense and turmoil. If you like inspirational suspense then this book is perfect for you.
