A Reason to Stay
As the host of her own
television news show, Faith Marin works to expose the truth for her
viewers. But in her personal life, she's anchored her world with firm
boundaries in order to hide a family history she'd like to forget. Her
pro bass fisherman husband Geary's life is an open book, and
unfortunately his busybody family doesn't know the meaning of
boundaries. Deception and crippling differences soon derail their tender
relationship, leading Faith to believe her only option is to end the
marriage. But while divorce papers sit on her desk waiting to be signed,
tragedy strikes and her heartrending decision is interrupted. With her
life in the balance, Faith finds that the one she has been shutting out
may be the very one she cannot bear to lose.

Kellie Coates Gilbert and Revell have released the third installment in the Texas Gold series. As I have not read the other two books I will say this is a stand alone novel. I had no problems following the story or the characters by not reading the first two.
We meet Faith Beirman and Geary Marin in this book. Faith works at KIAM-TV in Huston, Texas. On her very first reporting assignment she lands a job covering the Texas Bass Championship at Lake Conroe which is located in the northern outskirts of Huston. She feels pumped about the shoot until she literally lands overboard and is fished out of the lake by a very handsome gentleman, Geary Marin. He turns out to be man every girl dreams about including Faith. Needless to an attraction leads to a relationship which turns into a marriage. The honeymoon was something to dream about, but upon their arrival back in Huston life intrudes quickly.
Faith is a reporter with a fast tract to the big leagues and Geary is a professional fisher with plans of competing again. At first there was minor disagreements to work through, but suddenly disagreements turn to arguments and not talking. Slowly their marriage is broken and Faith moves back to Huston to be closer to her job where she now has her own hour long morning show. Geary is on the tournament circuit fighting to win more points to advance to the next round.
Faith's arrival one morning at KIAM_TV sends her to the Johnson Space Center for a press conference given by Senator Libby Heekin Rohny about some unpopular budget cuts. A shooter opens fire and Faith is hit by a bullet and rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she is diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. After spending 4 weeks in a drug induced coma Faith begins to wake up and deal with the painful road of recovery. As she slowly begins to recover her memory she takes us down memory lane of meeting Geary and the change in their relationship. Will she ever recover enough to make things right with her husband?
This is a very thought provoking story. It makes you think if something were to ever happen what would you want to be remembered for. I enjoyed this story. It's a sweet romance. The author broaches tough issues and resolves those issues realistically. The strong, well developed characters will keep you turning the pages.
The message I received from this book is one of faith. You must trust God in all things and remember no matter what struggles you are facing today there is another chapter to your story.
I would recommend this book to anyone.
*I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for a honest opinion without bias or outside influence. All thoughts or opinions are mine alone.

As a former legal professional, Kellie Coates Gilbert spent nearly twenty-five years working in courtrooms and behind the scenes of some of the largest and most well-known cases in America. She was one of the lead paralegals in the Jack-in-the-Box litigation, where uncooked hamburger resulted in the deaths of several toddlers and made many more critically ill, which is now the subplot of her recently released WHERE RIVERS PART, the second novel in a collection of contemporary women's fiction stories all set in Texas. Her books not only explore the heart issues that matter most to women, but often allow readers an inside peek into her former legal world.
Kellie currently makes her home in Dallas, Texas with her husband and a very spoiled 2.7 lb. Yorkie named Emmie Sweetpea.
