Brief Description of Book:

Abducted at the age of sixteen and coerced into assisting the Jacoby crime family, Shannon Bliss has finally found a way out. She desperately wants to resume some semblance of normal life, but she also knows she has some unfinished business to attend to. She has enough evidence to put her captors behind bars for a very long time.
When Shannon contacts private investigator and former cop Matthew Dane to help her navigate her reentry into society, she quickly discovers that gaining her freedom doesn’t mean her troubles are over. For one thing, her brother is the leading candidate in the race for Illinois governor, and news of her escape will create a media frenzy. For another, the ransom her family reportedly paid years earlier appears to have been a scam; no one knows what happened to the money. And then there’s the fact that Shannon’s escape involved faking her own death. If the Jacoby family learns she is still alive, they’ll stop at nothing to silence her.
If justice is to be done, and if Shannon’s life is ever to get on track again, Matthew will need to discover exactly what happened to her–even if it means stirring up a hornet’s nest of secrets.

I have love Dee Henderson's books for several years now and when given the opportunity to review this book I got so excited.  One of her signatures of writing is that she weaves her words together to bring her characters to life by showing  both their strengths and weaknesses.  This is a story of a parent's worst nightmare, Child Abduction.  When I read about the book it reminded me of Elizabeth Smart's abduction and escape.  This story truly takes you on an emotional rollercoaster or at least it did me.
Taken centers around Shannon Bliss and Matthew Dane.  16 year old Shannon Bliss was reported missing from the Chicago area 11 years ago only to never be seen or heard from again.  Matthew Dane, a widower, has lived this nightmare when his 8 year old daughter, Becky, was abducted and held for years before she was found, luckily alive.  the past few years he has spent helping Becky piece her life back together.  While in Atlanta at a law enforcement conference he's approached by a young woman with an incredible story.  The next few hours he spends trying to unravel not only this woman's story, but also her identity.
This story tells of a survivor as she tries to pick her life back up.  No, she's not the same person, but after 11 years of being held captive who would be.  The one thing she has held on to during all these years is her faith in God.  Her captors may have controlled her life, but she is free of them now and would not let anyone have power over her again.

Wow, I loved this book.  Both of these characters are very strong and the faith they have is just astounding.  This is a suspense, but has a hint of romance involved also.  Anyone who loves a good Christian suspense I encourage to check this book out.
I received this book from Netgalley and Bethany House for a honest review without bias as stated above.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
