Logan Point #2

A Promise to Protect (Logan Point #2)

Publisher: Revell
5 Stars

I receive this book from Negalley to read and give a honest opinion without bias. This is the second installment in the Logan Point Series, but I feel this is definitely a stand alone book.

Here's a little about the book:

Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her--or their whirlwind romance of ten years ago--out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. When Tony dies just days later, Ben is charged with a different task--protecting Leigh and her nine-year-old son, TJ, from the killers. But how can Ben keep an eye on Leigh if she's doing everything in her power to avoid him? And could the secret that Leigh is keeping change Ben's life forever?

Here are my thoughts:

What attracted me to this book was the intriguing cover.  The book description looked like something I would really enjoy since I love a good suspenseful romance.  This author introduces us to two, strong, well developed characters.  I was immediately drawn to Leigh who seems to always be trying to do what's best for everyone but herself.  She has let her life get in between her relationship with God.  This happens with a lot of people.  You decide your sin is too big to be forgiven, but in reality to God all sin is the same.  Leigh has kept a secret for almost 10 years and she is afraid that it's about to be exposed.  I really like this character and keep rooting for her.
Ben Logan has taken over as Sherriff after his father's medical emergency.  Ben and Leigh had a summer romance when they were younger, but he hasn't heard from her in years.  Ben's character is very likable. He's very determined to uphold the law in his town.  I like that he's not afraid to show his faith and that he puts God first in his life.
This is a wonderful story about trust and a crisis in faith.  It is loaded with lots of suspense and mystery, but interlaced with a romance.  The characters will drew me into the story, but the fast paced storyline kept me turning the pages.
I would recommend this book to anyone.

  1. Katrina, even though I'm not crazy about suspense, I've enjoyed both of Patricia's books. I think it was the southern setting that made me want to try them. We think alike on this one!

    1. Carole, I must admit this was the first time I've read one of Patricia's books. I really liked her writing style and the message. Yes, I will read more of her books. Our tastes are very similar. Thank you for stopping by.
