Book Description

Coast Guard fire chief Scotty Cohen learned his lesson when one careless moment on the job cost his best friend his life. So he heads for Haven Bay, Florida, ready to start again. And this time? No distractions allowed.

Enter conservationist Lilah McLaughlin—that woman is one major distraction. How is he supposed to ignore her when the marine wildlife rescue center is right next door to the Coast Guard facility—and when she proceeds to break down every wall he’s put up?

Then the unthinkable happens, and Scotty must decide: give up Lilah or give up his calling. Whatever choice he makes means he’ll get burned all over again…
My Review
What a wonderful faith based romance! I loved Lilah McLaughlin. She was a troubled soul who endured mental abuse at the hands of her ex finance. My heart goes out to her. She is still haunted by his cruel words. She is kind hearted and has a great faith in God. Chief Scotty Cohen has recently moved to Haven Bay from Chicago due to a job transfer. Scotty lost his best friend in an accident and has been troubled by his death. He feels he has not only a lot to prove, but would like to work on safety protocols to ensure no one dies like his friend. Scotty looks to God for guidance in all matters except for those dealing with the heart. There's an attraction between Lilah and Scotty, but will they be able to put the past away so they can move on to the future? A wonderful read that I would recommend to anyone.
Meet The Author

Not even Cheryl Wyatt’s closest friends would dream that this sweet, shy intercessor plots mayhem during announcements at church. She is a Registered Nurse turned stay-at-home-mom, wife and writer who loves Jesus with all of her heart.
Joyful chaos rules her home, and she delights in the stealth moments God gives her to write. She stays active in her church and in her laundry room. She is convinced that having been born on a Naval base on Valentines Day destined her to write Inspirational Military Romance.
Cheryl loves to laugh and to make others laugh, so she often plans comedic moments for her defenseless characters in spite of their grumbling. She says it’s payback for when they refuse to obey the plots she’s set out before them.
Prior to publication, six of Cheryl’s manuscripts placed in ten RWA Contests. Two of Cheryl’s stories also placed First in ACFW’s Noble Theme Contest 2005 (Contemporary Romance Category), as well as ACFW‘s Genesis Contest 2006 (Mystery/Suspense/Thriller Category).
She took writing courses through Jerry Jenkins’ Christian Writers Guild and Longridge Writers Institute of Children’s Literature, and she has been previously published in non-fiction (poetry, devotionals).
She currently writes for Love Inspired, HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Zondervan imprint, Redbud Press and more. Her stories can be purchased anywhere books are sold.
