Alaskan Search and Rescue: Risking their lives to save the day.
My Review
This is the second installment in the Alaskan Search and Rescue series. I loved the first book and knowing the author's talent in writing I knew I would also like this book.  Yet nothing prepared me for the emotions this story would evoke.  I loved this book also.  It's a story that will tug any parent's heartstrings and touch one of their greatest fears-child abduction.
Ella Jackson has a history she prefers to not talk about.  Even with moving to Alaska two years ago she still looks over  her shoulder, but just not quiet as much.  She works at Northern Frontier Search and Rescue.  Wanting to keep her son safe she enrolls him in Camp Yukon to learn about wilderness safety.  When the camp notifies her that her son and two other boys are missing the fear she experiences is almost paralyzing.  There are so many dangers he could encounter from wild animals, hypothermia, or even her ex husband.
She works with Josiah Witherspoon at the SAR office and when he offers to help locate the boys Ella finds herself torn with confiding in him her greatest fear.  This former ex marine has a way of calming her nerves and his survival skills would be valuable in finding her son and his friends.
Josiah knows the dangers these children could face and is determined to bring them home. His protective instincts kick in where Ella and her son are concerned, but he knows she is keeping secrets.  Will she trust him enough to confide in him.
This is a suspenseful romance that will quickly pull the reader in and the fast paced plot line will keep them turning the pages.  I automatically liked Ella and the depth of the love she shows her son.  I fell a little in love with Josiah who was constantly putting others first, but my respect came from his dedications to his job and the sheer guts it took to face the uncertainty of the outcome.  The author's depth of research is shown through her vivid imagery and details.  I would recommend this book to anyone.  I was lucky enough to receive this ARC from the author for a honest review without bias as stated above.  I look forward to the next book in this series.
