My Review: 

Elizabeth Heiter brings us the second installment in her K-9 Alaska Rescue.  This story dives right into the life of Alanna Morgan who was kidnapped at the age of 5 from in front of her house.  Alanna has lived with her kidnappers, Darcey and Julian Altier,  for many years as a loving family in a small town in Alaska.  One day she decides it's time to alert someone that she is still alive which brings about a turn of events where her kidnappers are arrested and placed in jail. 

For the past 5 years Alanna has lived with conflicting emotions.  She has a certain amount of love and loyalty to the people who raised her because they were good to her, but at the same time she feels somewhat disloyal to her biological family.  She has done pretty good at hiding her emotions, but deep down she's very conflicted.  

The recent turn of events and Darcey's escape from her Oregon prison, Alanna knows she must return to Desparre and face her past.  No one knows Darcey better and that if she has kidnapped another child then she will head to one of the hideouts around Desparre.  

Officer Pere Robok hasn't been a law enforcement long and has faced a certain amount of backlash from other officers because of his disability.  His first encounter with Alanna couldn't have gone worse.  He was suspicious from the moment he heard her name.  He knows first hand about the control kidnappers can have over their victims.  

This absorbing story is filled with suspense, mystery, and a touch of romance.  It brings complex characters that will tug at your heart.  The author shows Alanna not as a victim, but as a survivor.  I love that!! The plot is full of twists and turns that will kept me turning the pages.  

This is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves a good suspense or a clean mystery.

Elizabeth Heiter brings us the final book in The Lawmen series which is due for release April 1, 2015 and it was definitely worth the wait.

This series centers around 3 friends who grew up in a small farming town in Indiana. Scott is the older brother of Maggie who is best friends with Ella.  Maggie and Ella are roommates at college and one night during their senior year  Maggie fails to return to the dorm.  This night will change the life of these three friends forever. 

Maggie, Ella and Scott are make a pact to find out who is behind this terrible crime.  All three went into the FBI, Ella as a negotiator, Scott as a trained sniper and Maggie became a FBI SWAT agent.  Maggie has been with the Washington Field Office's SWAT team for four  years and has gained the respect of her teammates.  The one thing Maggie was not and that was vulnerable.  She promised herself ten years ago that she would never be a victim again.  She has honed her skills and was prepared for anything, or at least she thought. 

Grant Larkin had been with the Washington Field Office for 9 months and had developed a friendship and attraction to Maggie, but the attraction couldn't be acted on with both working for the same department.  Yeah, he had heard all the rumors about the Fishhook Rapist and Maggie's involvement, but that didn't factor into either their friendship or his attraction. 

I loved this book.  The author does an excellent job bringing closure to the series.  I like Maggie a lot and have respect for the way she has not let this incident actually define her as a person.  She is seeking justice and makes life plan changes which shows a lot of courage and strength.  Grant is a guy anyone could love.  He doesn't look at the past and judge someone, but rather looks at what he sees in their actions.  He hides the pain he feels when he sees Maggie's past and vows to get justice for her.  I love this author's stories because they really bring out a lot of emotions in the reader.  She brings engaging story lines, wonderfully developed characters and lots of suspense.  I would recommend this book and series to anyone who likes suspense or romance.

My Review:

This is the second book in The Lawmen series.  The series centers around three friends who grew up in a small, farming town in Indiana.  Maggie and Ella were roommates in college and Scott was the protective big brother.  All three lives were changed forever the night Maggie was abducted and raped.  They made a pact to find the man who committed the attack on Maggie and therefore went into law enforcement. 

The author brings us two characters that show both strengths and weaknesses which endeared them to me.  The fast paced storyline is full of intrigue and suspense that kept me reading until the end.  I love how protective Scott is towards his friends, but I must say it did bother me when he was always putting everyone else first in his life.  Chelsie is always judging herself harshly, just like in life, we are usually judge ourselves harder than others do.  I am looking forward to reading the 3rd installment, Swat Secret Admirer, in this series which is set to be released in April. 

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a romance or a good suspense.  I was given this book by the author for a honest and unbiased review as stated above.

My Review

Harlequin Intrigue is releasing a new series, The Lawman, by Elizabeth Heiter.  This book is the first in the series by Elizabeth Heiter who  is known for her gripping FBI novels Hunted and Vanished.

This series centers around 3 friends who grew up in a small farming town in Indiana. Scott is the older brother of Maggie who is best friends with Ella.  Maggie and Ella are roommates at college and one night during their senior year  Maggie fails to return to the dorm.  This night will change the life of these three friends forever. 

I absolutely loved this book.  She brings characters that are not always perfect, but that seems to make them more human to me.  We are introduced to Ella who has worked with the FBI for 7 years as a profiler who has literally had to get into the mindset of the criminal. She is loyal, headstrong and very independent. Logan Green is a good detective and will go the extra lengths to get a case solved, but sometimes must break the rules to get this done.  He has a good heart, but is constantly having to prove himself at work since his dad is the mayor everyone likes to insinuate that that's how he not only got but keeps his job. 

This story is full of suspense, but also includes a little romance. I was pulled into the story quickly and the fast paced plot kept me turning the pages.  I would recommend this book to anyone. 

The second book in this series is Seduced By A Sniper set to be released March 1, 2015 and I look forward to reading it.

As a profiler she has to crawl in the minds of serial killers, arsonists, bomb-makers,child abductors and terrorists. She has been haunted for years by the disappearance of her best friend, Cassie, when she was 1 Elizabeth Heiter has written another hit. She brings us a gripping FBI thriller that will not only keep the reader on the edge of their seat, but also turning the pages. She brings us the strong character of Evelyn Baine who works as a profiler for the FBI in the Behavior Analysis Unit.
