Synopsis:

Cassidy was looking for a home and a place to belong . . . not for a cowboy to steal her heart.
Having lived through her parents’ endless string of “matrimonial bliss gone wrong,” Cassidy Starr knows when the odds are not in her favor. Divorced and humiliated, her faith on rocky ground, Cassidy is through with love. She’s been bucked o_ that horse far too many times. Instead, she returns to Wishing Springs, Texas, and the rundown farm she’s inherited from her great aunt Roxie. She’ll reopen the strawberry farm and a bed & breakfast and follow in her aunt’s footsteps, remaining forever-independent, happy . . . and single.

Rancher Jarrod Monahan’s hands are full running the ranch, looking after his ailing grandfather, and chasing down a group of rustlers on the loose. He’s pushed his longing for a family to the bottom of his list of priorities. Besides, he was in love once but ran scared and lost his shot at happiness. But suddenly, the biggest regret of his life has moved in next door with a wounded heart, determined to become a spinster . . . and that’s a challenge that Jarrod can’t pass up.

Jarrod sets his mind to breaking down the walls around Cassidy’s stubborn heart. How can he show her that a cowboy’s kiss lasts forever? For the good folks of Wishing Springs, falling in love has never been so much fun to witness.

 My Thoughts:

Wow, what a wonderful story!!
Debra Clopton brings us the third installment in the Four of Hearts Ranch series, Kissed by a Cowboy.  I anxiously awaited for the release of this book and was not disappointed with it. This series revolves around the Monahan family and the small community of Wishing Springs, Texas.
As a child Cassidy Starr would visit Aunt Roxie at Strawberry Hill and it always seemed like her safety net, the place she felt most loved.  Years later she had inherited Strawberry Hill when Aunt Roxie passed away, but it has sat empty for 6 years.
Battered and broken after her divorce Cassidy returns to her safe place to start over.
Her return was anything but what she had planned starting from her late arrival to getting hung in the doggie door, but the thing that really did it was the untimely arrival of Jarrod Monahan.  The Monahan Ranch was across the road from Roxie's place and as a child she trailed after the three boys, but mostly Jarrod.  He was very kind to the lonely child, but broke the heart of the teenager with one kiss.  Cassidy wasn't that same child anymore.  She was a grown woman who had just escaped a marriage that had sucked the very life out of her, so needless to say she was in no way looking for a relationship of any kind.
Jarrod Monahan's life had definitely not turned out exactly how he expected and her harbors a deep resentment to his dad for it.   Of course he can blame no one, but himself for the problems he caused with Cassidy.  For years he's been running the ranch and helping his brothers get out of the financial mess his father caused. Then there's Pops, his grandfather, and his health problems.  He's dealing with it, but lately things have become intense with the numbers not adding up.  He's sure that someone has been rustling some of his cattle and he plans to find out who. Suddenly he sees a light shining from Roxie's old place and upon investigation he finds Cassidy the one woman he can't forget.
This is a story of forgiveness and second chances.  It has a sweet plot that flows effortlessly.  There's southern charm and quirky characters.  The engaging secondary characters bring humor and love to the community.  This is a romance interlaced with humor.  The characters are well developed and weave their way into your heart from the first page.  Oh they have their flaws, but are still so easy to love.
The message I received from this story is that it's never too late to ask for forgiveness and starting over.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good, clean romance.
