Bodyguard Reunion

Bodyguard Reunion

5 Stars

Margaret Daley brings us a suspense interlaced with a romance.  This is the final installment in the Guardians, Inc. series, but this is a stand alone book.

Chloe Howard works for Guardians, Inc. and has since leaving the Dallas Police Dept. a few years ago.  Chloe is a Christian and leans on God to guide her in all decisions.  Growing up for her was difficult at times.  Her father was in the Navy and there for gone a lot, so it was only her and her mom at home most of the time.  She witnessed the anxiety and depression her mother suffered as a result of this.
Kyra Hunt, Chloe's boss has given her a new assignment which is to help guard Pau and Mary Zimmerman during their book tour after several unexpected stinks bombs were hurled into audience members.  Paul and Mary have written a New York Times best seller titled "Taking Back America". There is much controversy surrounding this publication.  Unfortunately she would be sharing this assignment and finds out on her arrival that it is none other than TJ Davenport. This was going to be a hard assignment because it means spending an entire month sharing responsibility with TJ.
TJ Davenport, once a secret service agent, and Chloe have a history.  9 years ago he was assigned to the counterfeit cases and financial crimes in Dallas and worked closely with the Dallas Police Dept.  He met Chloe during an assignment and once the case was closed they began dating.  Of course when offered a promotion to be a part of the protection detail for the vice president, it was not something he could turn down.  He asked Chloe to move to Washington, but at the time her mother was undergoing treatments for cancer and she could not leave.  At first TJ tried to keep in contact with her, but after witnessing what her mother had endured during their marriage Chloe knows she can't handle a long distance relationship.
When the Zimmerman's publisher contacted TJ with this assignment he knew he would need help, so he contacted a long time friend at Guardians, Inc. and specifically asked that Chloe be the agent they sent.  Chloe plans to do her job and not let her personal feelings get in the way.  As the book tour progresses Paul and Mary continue to have unexplained threats occur, but they turn a blind's eye to them.  TJ and Chloe must remain vigilant until the police can figure out who is sending these deadly threats.

My Review

I loved this story.  Ms. Daley brings us a strong, well developed characters.  I loved and admired TJ for being open about his crisis of faith.  He quits his job when it starts conflicting with his morals.  Chloe is very tough and determined to do a good job, but at the same time she knows what she wants in her personal life and won't settle for anything less.  The plot flows effortlessly and will keep you turning the pages. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense or a romance. This book was given to me by the author in return for my honest and unbiased review.
