A Bradford Sisters Romance

True to You

True to You (Bradford Sisters Romance #1)After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

My Thoughts:

What a wonderful story!!
I was immediately intrigued by Nora.
She is the middle sister in the the Bradford household.  She has always been quiet and some what bookish.  She is the director of the Library on the Green Museum. While growing up she and her family had visited a historical village and she had been fascinated.  8 years ago her father had bought land and 3 historical buildings which they had decided to rent out in hopes of increasing tourism.  At her college graduation he gifted her with the village which she manages and has increased to 12 buildings now.  At present she has her eye on a Hartnett Chapel, which is perfection at it's best, but has been unable to convince the owner to sell.
  She is a historian and a genealogist, but the one thing she definitely knew she wasn't was the role of hostage in a mock training exercise.  She believed in emergency preparedness, but she should have thought this decision over before agreeing to her sister's suggestion.  Of course the one thing it did do was give her the first of many glimpses she was have of John Lawson.  {sigh}

John Lawson owns and runs Lawson Training Incorporated, but his history includes 6 years with the United States Navy SEALs where he was awarded the Medal of Honor.  He has had a book, Uncommon Courage, and movie released about his life.  John approaches Nora to enlist her help in doing some ancestry work in helping him find his birth mother.  As straightforward as everything sounds Nora knows that having a name is not always as easy as it sounds.  As they dig toward John's family history they find many roadblocks, but endeavor to knock them down.  Of course there's an attraction between John and Nora, but John has a girlfriend of many years plus he has a secret that he doesn't want revealed.
I loved both characters, plot and setting.  This story takes the reader on twists and turns never expected and leads to a bit of a mystery.  This plot actually tackles several tough issues.  The story has elements of forgiveness, mystery, and love.  This is the first book in Wade's new series and is great foundation for the next book which I am anxious to read.
**I received this book from the author via the publisher.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Meet the Author:

Becky WadeDuring her childhood in California, Becky frequently produced homemade plays starring her sisters, friends, and cousins.  These plays almost always featured a heroine, a prince, and a love story with a happy ending.  She’s been a fan of all things romantic ever since.
Becky and her husband lived overseas in the Caribbean and Australia before settling in Dallas, Texas.  It was during her years abroad that Becky’s passion for reading turned into a passion for writing.  She published three historical romances for the general market, put her career on hold for many years to care for her kids, and eventually returned to writing sheerly for the love of it.  She’s delighted to be penning warm, wry, and heartwarming contemporary romances for the Christian market.  She’s the Carol Award, INSPY Award, and Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award winning author of My Stubborn Heart, the Porter Family series, and the Bradford Sisters Romance series.
These days Becky can be found failing but trying to keep up with her housework, sweating at the gym, carting her kids around town, playing tennis, hunched over her computer, eating chocolate, or collapsed on the sofa watching TV with her husband.
