Serena Jones Mystery #2

Another Day, Another Dali (Serena Jones Mystery #2)

When a valuable Salvador Dali painting belonging to her grandmother's friend is mysteriously replaced by a forgery, FBI Special Agent Serena Jones is called in to investigate. Serena hopes finding the thief will also mean finally measuring up to Nana's expectations. But when the evidence points to members of the owner's own household, it becomes increasingly clear that Serena won't be winning any popularity contests.
The Dali isn't the only painting that's fallen prey to the forgery-replacing thief, raising the specter of a sophisticated theft ring--one with links to dirty cops, an aspiring young artist, and the unsolved murder of Serena's grandfather.
With plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments, "Another Day, Another Dali" gives the plucky Serena Jones--and readers--a new high-stakes case to crack.

My Thoughts:

Sandra Orchard brings us the second installment in the Serena Jones Mysteries.  Even though this book is part of a series, I believe this is a stand alone story.  The story opens as Serena and her partner, Tanner Calhoun, has been called in to the scene of a drug investigation of a well known drug dealer who has a "Renoir" hanging in his den.  While on the scene she receives a request/demand from her grandmother to investigate a missing Dali owned by a close friend.  As the investigation heats up Serena finds there are could be links to her grandfather's death.
I found the two men, Tanner Calhoun her partner and Nate Butler her building superintendent, in her life were enough to make your heart start pumping.  Both are available for help and want to keep her safe from harm.  One of my favorite characters in this series is Aunt Martha, and of course Harold.  Aunt Martha is always trying to solve mysteries and tends to get involved where she shouldn't.  Now Harold is the cat she inherited from Aunt Martha along with the apartment she now lives.
This is a wonderful story that has elements of suspense, mystery, and humor that's interlaced with a hint of romance.  The characters are engaging and quickly pull the reader into the story.  The plot flows effortlessly and is somewhat fast paced.  The author brings this book to life with her vivid imagery.
This is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery.
