Lone Star Justice

I was so excited to hear Margaret Daley was writing another series, Lone Star Justice.
I have been reading Margaret Daley's books for years.  Why??
I love that when I'm reading her story not only do I get a wonderful plot, but also one that literally pulls me into the story. Her use of imagery just brings the setting and characters to life for me.
This series centers around the Texas Rangers.  The Rangers are part of the state police in Texas and there are about 150 commissioned for the whole state of Texas.  They investigate everything from murder to corruption of a public official as well as providing protection for state and federal officials.

Lone Star Justice:
Lawmen protecting Texas-
and falling in love.

As we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are called according to his purpose.
~Romans 8:28

High-Risk Reunion (Lone Star Justice)
A PERILOUS SECOND CHANCE

When district attorney Tory Carson returns home after a long day in court prosecuting a gang leader, she finds her house trashed. Concerned that the vandalism is connected to the trial, the local police chief calls the Texas Rangers…and her former love Cade Morgan responds. Tory's history with Cade—and the secret they share—makes her reluctant to let him back into her life. But Tory doesn't want to choose between bringing down a gang leader and protecting her teenage daughter. With the threat escalating the longer she tries the case, the safest place for Tory and her daughter is at Cade's ranch. But can Cade protect them long enough for Tory to bring the criminal to justice?

My Thoughts:

Love it!!
I always know when I pick up one of Margaret Daley's books that I will not be putting it down until the last page is turned.
Looking at the cover I was immediately intrigued and the back blurb intrigued me.
I was immediately pulled into the story from page one.

Sept. 11, 2001 had a great impact on our nation, but it also had a great impact on us individually.  It changed the lives of so many.

Cade Morgan was closer to Tory Carson than just about anybody.  They had dated for years and marriage had come up, but Cade knew the attacks of 9/11 would change the course of his life.  While Tory went to college Cade went to Afghanistan, but neither would return to hometown the same people with the same dreams.
Tory was now the DA in El Rio, Texas and the widowed mother of a 14 year old daughter.  Cade had returned to his home 3 weeks ago  after a transfer with the Texas Rangers.  So much had changed.  Tory was prosecuting gang leader Diego Mederos for various crimes and one of the biggest cases of her career. When she moved back to El Rio her plan was to make the community safer by prosecuting those offenders and she had made a huge dent so far.  Unfortunately she comes home after a day in court to a vandalized house and the possibility her daughter had been kidnapped.
Cade, a Texas Ranger, had recently been transferred back to El Rio.  Currently he was living with his Uncle Ben on the family ranch. The chief of police contacted Cade about the vandalism and possible connection to the Mederos trial, but for Cade this was more than just an investigation.  It was personal.
The mystery and fast paced action that ensues kept me glued to the pages.  The story line brings elements of a mystery, suspense, second chances, trust and faith.  I loved Cade as he shows great strength of character and Tory is as easily lovable also
.   The past is the past until it comes back to haunt you in a living breathing person.
Both will have to put the past to rest and work together to solve this and bring the person to justice.
This is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves suspense.
**I received this book from the author for a honest review without bias or outside influence as stated above.
