A Woman's Battle Plan for Serious, Specific
and Strategic Prayer

You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It’s specific. Personalized. Targeted.

So this book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you’re on to him and that you won’t back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you’re turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God’s Spirit.

New York Times bestselling author Priscilla Shirer, widely known for her international speaking, teaching, and writing ministries, brings her new role from the 2015 film War Room into the real lives of today’s women, addressing the topics that affect them most: renewing their passion , refocusing their identity , negotiating family strife, dealing with relentless regrets , navigating impossible schedules , succeeding against temptation , weathering their worst fears , uprooting bitterness , and more. Each chapter exposes the enemy’s cruel, crafty intentions in all kinds of these areas, then equips and encourages you to write out your own personalized prayer strategies on tear-out sheets you can post and pray over yourself and your loved ones on a regular basis.

Fervent is a hands-on, knees-down, don’t-give-up action guide to practical, purposeful praying.

Have you watched the recently released movie War Room?
I have not yet had the privilege, but I have seen the trailer for it and do look forward to watching it.   Priscilla Shirer makes her debut appearance in this film and it inspired her to write this book.
I had heard so much talk about this book that I really looked forward to reading it and seeing what everyone was talking about.  I was pleased when it arrived at the easily understandable layout.
The first chapter is titled "This Means War" and she really means it.  First she explains that she wants this book to be used in every possible way and that by the time you are finished it should look abused (marked up, written in, folded pages and not something you would even think of regifting). To be honest this gave me a chuckle.  Most authors want you to show care and appreciation when handling their books, which I do.  After getting into this book I finally understood what she meant. I found myself jotting notes int he sidelines and underlining and highlighting so many places.  The second thing she says in the first chapter is that this is not a book about prayer and it's not.  She explains that we are being attacked from all sides, but this is a war we can win.
God created prayer as a way for us to get into personal contact with him and his eternal realities-day or night. We must understand that prayer is what opens the portal that brings heaven down to earth.
We must remember that Satan is not flesh and blood and he plays dirty and will hit us where he knows it will hurt, our relationship with God.  He will use any means necessary. When the enemy attacks it can come in many different forms and we must put on God's armor as in Ephesians 6:11.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
You might ask what the armor of God is, it is the shield of Faith, the helmet of Salvation as well as the Sword-the very Word of God. Yet what drives everything is Prayer.
As with any war, one must develop strategies to fight the enemy. Ms. Shirer polled a large cross section of women, asking them to tell her the primary ways the enemy attacks.  After looking at all the answers she came up with 10 that are most common that Satan directs the hardest and these are the ones she addresses in her book.
*Against Your Passion
*Against Your Focus
*Against Your Identity
*Against Your Family
*Against Your Confidence
*Against Your Calling
*Against Your Purity
*Against Your Rest and Contentment
*Against Your Heart
*Against Your Relationships
She encourages each of us to write down our own battle plans for dealing with each of these areas based on scripture.  This is not a physical warfare, but rather a spiritual one.  These strategies are to help you remember to pray and what to pray.  They help you put on you armor of God each day.  The book is designed and has pull out prayer cards in the back.  They are a little bit bigger than an index card. She encourages the reader to pull these out and use them.  Place them in strategic places around the house as a reminder.
At the very end of the book there's a place for notes, but if your like me you will have notes written on all the pages.
This is a wonderful book that helps you take a hard look at prayer and what you need to do to combat the enemy.  Follow the easy instructions and soon you will be battling your war, but fully suited up in God's armor to do battle.

This book is available in both ebook and paperback format.
I would recommend this book to anyone.  It is written as a woman's battle plan, but it can be used by men just as easily.
