Rodeo Knights #2

Retired champion bull-rider, Michael Knight, leaves his ranch when his younger brother calls for help. Someone is sabotaging and poisoning rodeo animals. Determined to stop them, Michael takes a job in the center of the action as a bullfighter.

Bella Rosenthal is one of the few female bull-riders competing with the men. Someone is harassing her, and Michael decides to solve that case as well, but Bella doesn’t want any help. She insists on taking care of herself until one of her bull rides is sabotaged, and she is nearly killed. Michael and Bella work to find out who is behind what is happening on the rodeo circuit while fighting their growing feelings for each other.

The Knight and the Damsel, a western romance (Rodeo Knights Book 2)

Margaret Daley, Lisa Mondello and Lenora Worth have released a collaborative series, Rodeo Knights.  Margaret release the second book in the series, The Knight and the Damsel on October 15, 2015.  Even with this being part of a series, this book is definitely a stand alone story as I have not read any of the other books and had no trouble following the storyline.
Margaret Daley is a masterful storyteller.  The story she weaves with her words not only pulls the reader in, but makes them feel apart of the story itself.  This story was no different.  The plot pulled me in on page one and kept me turning the pages until the end.  The characters are strong and well developed.  Yes, I would have fallen for Michael Knight in an instant and cheered for Bella on and off the bull.

I have loved to watch rodeos since the early 1990's.
My favorite bull rider is and has always been Tuff Hedeman.  So when reading this book I attributed the face of Tuff to Michael's character.
Michael is a champion bullfighter. He was always looking for the next ride, even to the point of putting it first in his life.  His last ride was powerful and he was full of heart pumping adrenaline until he got the call.  That call changed his entire life. His wife had been in an accident while trying to arrive at the arena to watch him ride.  Michael's world came crashing down on him and he swore he would never return to the arena.
Bella Rosenthal grew up around rodeos.  Her father was a bull rider who had until he was caught in some underhanded methods of ensuring a high score.  Needless to say he left the sport in disgrace.  Bella is one of a few women in the sport and at times scorned and ridiculed for her participation.  This is not her first season, but it may be her last.
Michael has been asked by his brother to investigate the possible poisoning of rodeo stock by his brother and fiance`. The next stop on the Western Rodeo Circuit was Red Fork where he had agreed to pose as a bullfighter or as some might call a clown.  Bella has ran into a bit of truck problems and is broken down on the road when Michael happens upon her and offers assistance.    Bella arrives at the arena and draws Widow Maker.  If she can stay on him then she should get a good ride/score. Michael saw Bella settled on Widow Maker, but his gut told something was wrong.  The bull was thrashing and bucking like an overdose of adrenaline was pumping through his veins. When the chute opened Bella realized something wasn't right when the bull started twisting and twirling at the same time.
This is a sweet romance interlaces with lots of suspense.  It's a delicious story of characters who find things more complicated than they ever imagined.
I loved it!!
I would recommend this book to anyone.
*I received this book from the author for a honest opinion without bias or outside influence.  All thoughts and opinions are  my own.
