Not By Sight

With Britain caught up in WWI, Jack Benningham, heir to the Earl of Stonebrooke, has declared himself a conscientious objector. Instead, he secretly works for the Crown by tracking down German spies on British soil, his wild reputation and society status serving as a foolproof cover.

Blinded by patriotism and concern for her brother on the front lines, wealthy suffragette Grace Mabry will do whatever it takes to assist her country's cause. When she sneaks into a posh London masquerade ball to hand out white feathers of cowardice, she never imagines the chain of events she'll set off when she hands a feather to Jack.

And neither of them could anticipate the extent of the danger and betrayal that follows them--or the faith they'll need to maintain hope.

For we live by faith, not by sight.

Katie Breslin has written a truly wonderful romance set during World War I. She literally takes the reader back to Britian in the spring of 1917.
I loved both the plot line and the characters.

Grace Mabry as one motto "For King, For Country, For Freedom".
There's a reason for this.
Her brother Colin is fighting in the trenches in France while able-bodied men refused to join the fight.  She knows that if she follows through with her mission that it would ruin her father's hope of her ever gaining acceptance into polite society. Lady Bassett is hosting  a costume ball for the British Red Cross Society that is to aid wounded soldiers which would be the perfect place to follow through with her mission.  Upon her arrival she spies her first target, Jack Benningham, Viscount of Walenford.  Of course she didn't know Jack, but his objections to the war were well publicized along with his scandalous eploipts.  With her prey in sight she reminded herself what a coward her was and that was her main concern. She gained his attention and immediately put her plan into action by bestowing upon him a a white feather.
Jack Benningham was more than the man he showed in polite society, after all he couldn't reveal all of his secrets. Secrets, that was one thing he excelled at.   Jack had been put in a difficult place since the death of his brother, Hugh.  Everyone thought Hugh was the the only one in the family who supported war efforts, but unknown to anyone else he was a spy catcher for the Crown.  With espionage rampant his job was more important that ever.  His arrival at the ball was for surveillance and to keep up pretenses so no one might suspect his aid to the War Office.  Of course when he was momentarily distracted by a costume clad Pandora he didn't realize his life would be changed forever.

A wonderfully written story.
This is a story about love, choices, forgiveness and there's a little bit of suspense interwoven through out. When you open this book you will literally be swept away by the story.
Well developed characters, the plot well done, and a story line that kept me glued to the pages.
The message I received from this book was one of faith.
No not in your fellowman, but in God. God tells us even in our darkest hour he is there with us. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and he will lead us on the path he wants us to take.

I would recommend this book to anyone.
I received this book from the author and publisher for a honest review without bias or outside influence which is stated above.
