Mary Connealy and Bethany House have released the second installment in the Wild at Heart series, Now & Forever.  I must admit to me this is a stand alone book and it's not necessary to have read the first book to enjoy this one.

Brief Description:
Matthew Tucker survives a grizzly attack by jumping over a cliff into a rushing river. Unexpectedly, Shannon Wilde takes the plunge with him. Going through a series of waterfalls and rapids turns into a bonding experience.

By the time they battle their way back to civilization, Shannon has been thoroughly compromised, and only a wedding will do. A mountain man who loves to wander in the wilderness far from other people finds himself hitched to a young woman with a passel of relatives, a homestead, and a flock of sheep to care for.

As they learn to live with each other, strange things begin to happen on Shannon’s land. Someone evil clearly wants to drive them off, but whoever it is apparently didn’t count on Tucker. Trying to scare Matthew Tucker just makes him mad–and trying to hurt the woman he’s falling in love with sets off something even Matthew never expected.

I loved this story. It's full of intrigue, danger, suspense, humor but what I loved the most was the characters.  This author uses imagery to bring the story to life, but the characters will pull you and not let go until the last page is turned.
Shannon Wilde is a very sensitive and caring person.  She is the middle sister and all she craves is peace.  During the civil war she was a medic and what she witnessed and experienced has left her very soul wounded.  She deals with nightmares regularly.
Matthew Tucker is a dedicated mountain man, but come off the mountain a few times a year for supplies and to see his pelts.  Tucker is a legend in these parts of the territory. Some call him a ghost and others don't even think he exsists.
Shannon and Tucker will go on an adventure than neither is expecting and end up literally fighting for their very lives.
Tucker encounters a grizzly which proceeds to chase him down a mountain where he literally runs into Shannon.  Seeking the only escape from the grizzly she throws them both off the mountain side plunging them into the river below.  After the 3rd waterfall in a stretch of the river they both catch their breath long enough for Tucker to tie them together with his whip so the would not get separated.  And so the adventure begins.
I would recommend this story to anyone who loves romance, suspense or even history.  I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I received this book from Bethany House for a honest and unbiased review which is stated above.
