This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

My Review

The cover is so inviting and relaxing that you know when you open this book that your in for a really great story.  This is a contemporary romance set in New Mexico and is a lot more than just a romance.  I felt it was about learning to forgive and making right decisions.

Maddie is a 23 year old young woman who lives in a small town near the largest lake in New Mexico.  She has always loved the lake, but her first love is actually sailing.  When she was 18 her parents gifted her with a J24 keelboat which she has used for pleasure sailing and for racing.  3 years ago her life was literally turned upside down.  Her parents informed her that the man who raised her is not her biological father.  Maddie knows her dad has always loved her and she still feels like he's her dad, but she is also hurt.  She feels that she can not longer trust anyone.  She has had a deep yearning to get to know her biological father, who just happens to be a very successful sailor, and has recently returned from meeting him.  The big Regatta is in a few weeks and she has entered the race.  She not only want to win, but also prove to her biological father what a good sailor she is.
Unfortunately when Taylor, a crew member, becomes injured she has to fill his position quickly is she has any chance of being in the race.  In walks Grady Stone, and he appears to have what it takes to replace Taylor.  As Grady and Maddie spend more time together their feelings grow deeper than a mere friendship, but Maddie knows that Grady is only in the area for a few more weeks until he leaves for California. Grady is a character that I truly love.  He is always trying to make decisions his grandfather would be proud of.  He is always willing to help out, but when Taylor asks a favor Grady has no idea the torment he will go through in order to keep a promise.
